Jordan Gonzalez was born in the big city of Miami on March 13th, 2002. He is the youngest of three siblings as he has an older brother Nick Gonzalez and sister Janella Gonzalez. He grew up in the Westchester area of Miami deeply tied with his hispanic roots and grew up with his dad James Gonzalez.
His first ever love was sports and basketball, living in Miami he was enamored with the big three and LeBron James era. He translated this love to the court as he played competitively from 6th grade to 8th. He played basketball at Riviera Middle School for 2 years until he transferred to Glades Middle School which was regarded for its competitive travel basketball team.

It wasn’t until high school that he refocused his passions and began to chase his dream. At a young age he and his family became personally impacted by the crimes of a serial killer, as his uncle Manuel Taboada was tragically murdered in Gainesville. This moment stuck with Gonzalez throughout most of his life and later manifested itself as his inspiration to become an officer and protect the people within his community.
After he graduated high school in 2020, Gonzalez found himself in a variety of jobs from working at a BMW dealership for a year to then transitioning over to Nike where he stayed for a year and a half. Once he amassed enough experience in the work space and with people, he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of serving his community.
In 2023, Gonzalez moved to Gainesville, Florida in hopes to renew his life and pursue his lifelong passion of working in law enforcement. When asked about why he made the move specifically to Gainesville he said that Gainesville and GPD were the only options he wanted.
“During high school I had always wanted to go to UF, and my uncle Manuel Taboada was one of the 5 student murder victims and GPD had shown my family continuous support throughout the years and I wanted to protect and serve the same community who cared for my family as their own,” said Gonzalez.
After his move in 2023 he quickly secured a job with GPD and then was enrolled into the Santa Fe Public Safety Institute and put into training. He underwent 6 months of training where he underwent physical and mental exams in order to graduate and get certified to become an officer. On June 27, 2025 he was officially sworn in as a Police Officer for the Gainesville Police Department.
This marked a milestone in his life and secured a lifelong dream of his to work for the same department that not only supported his family but inspired him to serve his community with their diligent work. He hopes to eventually become a part of the detective unit and help prevent and solve serious crimes. He now looks to settle down, build a family and become an integral part of the community in Gainesville.
